Improved parcel pricing structures mean that sending parcels up to 20kg via a franking machine is highly competitive.
Royal Mail franking machine and stamp price changes have been announced effective April 3 2023. The changes have seen letter prices increase across the board, while changes to Royal Mail weight bands has seen the cost of sending small and medium parcels right up to 20kg via a franking machine become comparable to many courier services. This is a major benefit for businesses with franking machines who regularly send parcels.

Significant discounts are available through a franking machine against other options. For example, moving from first class stamps to second class Mailmark™, which will see no tangible reduction in service delivery levels, is as high as 46%.
Parcel sending via a franking machine gets even more competitive!
From 3rd April 2023, although there have been some increases to franked parcel pricing (following last April’s significant cut), several parcel bands have been amalgamated with the aim of making sending parcels through a franking machine as competitive as most market rates.
The following parcel bands have been removed:
- Small parcel 1-2kg
This means that there is only one price for a small parcel up to 2kg; - Medium parcel 1-2kg
This means that there is only one price for a medium parcel up to 2kg; - Medium parcel 2-5kg and 5-10kg
This means that there is only one price for medium parcels from 2kg right up to 10kg.
In addition, from 3rd April, the maximum permitted weight per single item carried by Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed will increase from 10kg to 20kg (except 9AM which remains at 2kg). This presents a competitive guaranteed tracked parcel rate right up to 20kg.
